Exclusive Features

  • Pivot and move faster
  • Synthetic suede
  • Decent grip
  • Very comfy
  • Great price

Adidas Box Hog 2 is made of synthetic suede which is quite sturdy and most commonly used material by popular shoe companies like Nike. It provides you to move your foot comfortably without any discomfort.

It has a single layer however it is sturdy enough and as you may know, the stretching capacity is quite high. Well, I have used many boxing shoes which are made of synthetic or different materials and this material (suede) is just superior and the construction of sides of your shoes will stay solid for years.

It provides not too much grip so you can easily pivot and move faster and this helps you punch faster. So if you can control your body quite well, Adidas Box Hog 2 can be a great option.

Sole is thin and it actually makes sense since it provides a lightweight and you can feel the ground more. So the sole is also an important factor for quick footwork.

What about Ankle Support?

The ankle part is a bit bulkier and it is reinforced with extra stitching at the upper side. This also has crucial importance for speed since it provides more freedom for your ankles and this allows you to move without any restriction. Above the ankle compartment is quite soft and it is a personal preference. For example, I just feel better when it is a bit tighter and soft and this shoe provides it. This is actually another quality which provides a lighter weight.

Shortly, Adidas Box Hog 2 is for people who want to move quickly in the ring.

Grip: Adidas uses rubber which is the most common material for grip. So “the feel” of it is same for any other boxing shoes.

Upper part: This part can also stretch and it is a bit softer than normal. Normally upper parts of shoes don’t provide it so if the top of your foot is bigger than average, this shoe can accommodate your foot quite well and I know that many people are looking for this.

Comfort: As I mentioned above, it has a single layer and thanks to that, as other Adidas Boxing Shoes, this one gets A+ for comfort. And the capacity of wicking moisture is quite high.

Price: Considering all of these, the price is really good. In addition to that, Adidas generally overprices everything, however, Adidas Box Hog is definitely not one of them. So I strongly recommend you check out the most recent price on Amazon.

Differences between Older Model and This model

Adidas Box Hog 2 (this model) is the newer model of Box Hog series. It and the older model have some differences. The older model has honeycomb mesh. It actually provides less air flow and it is rougher than Adidas Box Hog 2 (this model). So this model has a single layer of mesh which is lighter and allows more air in. Shortly, comfort is definitely improved a lot. As a side note, I really don’t like the honeycomb pattern which irritates my skin a lot. This is a personal experience, however, I also know that many people complain about the air regulation of it. However, good thing is that Adidas Box Hog 2 Boxing Shoes are made of different materials (synthetic suede) for comfort and your feet will remain cool.

This shoe can accommodate most people and as a side note, if you also prefer moving faster without having “tripping problem”, Adidas Box Hog 2 is a great choice. 1. Hi there,

    Great review!

My son just started boxing a few weeks ago, and he really loves it. I didn’t want to buy him new equipment because I was afraid he wasn’t going to continue. But now that I see he is serious about it, I am ready to invest a bit of money:)
He needs good quality shoes that grip the floor well and comfortable. I trust the Adidas Brand very much. They have never disappointed me so far. My son sweats excessively in his shoes, and it really stinks when he takes them off. So I would like to know if the Adidas shoes prevent this kind of issue?

Thank you for this excellent post!

    1. Well, it is good that he starts boxing : ) Investing a pair of good boxing shoes is the best thing you can do for your son.
The grip of the sole is decent and the leather is actually quite good. Since Adidas is known for producing various shoes including basketball, football and as long as you take care and clean the leather, you can be sure that sweat or bad smell will not be an issue.

  2. I have many friends who box, and they all swear by these shoes!
Personally, I don’t know much about the sport, but I happened to come across your article today. I found it helpful and informative, I will be passing your site along to my friends so that they may have a read through. I bet they will find it helpful as well!

    1. Well, these shoes are especially popular in the UK. I saw it a lot of times in the ring.

I am sure that at least some of them give this boxing shoe a try as it is comfortable and provides good grip. It is also considerably light as well. Adidas Box Hog 2 definitely has some features which suit many boxers’ style.

  3. Something a lot of people don’t understand is that if you get into Powerlifting, you need a nice, flat soled shoe. Many people swear by the Converse All Star high-tops, but the issue with these, is they don’t provide any/little ankle support whatsoever. For this reason, there’s been almost a resurgence in the industry with lifters moving away from your standard high-top runner to either wrestling boots, or these boxing shoes as they have the best of both worlds, the flat sole AND significant ankle support, which are needed for the big, heavy lifts.

    1. I hit the gym and lift the weights from time to time though it is not as common as boxing, however, I am definitely not a beginner either. I agree with the ankle support. The difference is night and day.

As you said it is also important in boxing as well as wrestling because it helps you apply more force. And let’s not forget that the movements, punch… start from the foot so the ankle support should be the number one thing which people need to look for while buying boxing shoes.

  4. My co worker has a son that boxes l will pass your site on to her and have her pass it along to her son’s friends. I don’t know anything about boxing but these shoes are stylish and seem to offer the ankle support athletics need

    1. Well, that is an interesting comment. That will be cool if you can. This shoe is not really popular but after reading the review, they might give it a shot.

  5. Hi Furkan,
This looks like an awesome shoe, for more than just boxing. My son-in-law does a lot of weight lifting, and I think this might be something he’d be interested in.
Do you know if they come in a wide size as well?
