Some people don’t have any online shopping opportunities and may only get the older editions of brands and many of these people actually reached out to me for good BJJ belt brands and the information below is for you.

BJJ Belt Brands

Scramble: I researched the old forum posts (jiu-jitsu) and according to them, the belt shrinks little and it (model or edition 1) is made of the material which is actually used for making the belt above. I am guessing that the company only changed the density of materials.

Tatami Fightwear: The awesome thing is that the belt on this list has been on the market for ages and it still gets decent ratings. I actually saw it in a very small city in Croatia. And according to my research, you can find this belt all over the world!

What separates a good BJJ belt from a bad one? Alright if you get a bad one, it may not stay in place and you can have numerous problems with it. After all, you want to focus on doing your session without any interruption, right? One thing is to note that the elasticity should be optimal and it should not be much and it should not be less either. With that, the material quality also plays a huge role since when you roll on the mats, it should not cause extra discomfort and should withstand the constant punishment during your grappling sessions.

Bad BJJ Belt Brands: There are some brands which just suck about producing BJJ belts. Some of these shrink more than they should, some just untie within minutes even if you tie it in “a superlock”! These brands are Kaataro, Blank Kimonos, and Vector Sports. By the way, I gathered these brands from BJJ trainers’ experiences and trustworthy BJJ forums!

In case of any company contacts me (again), I won’t change the part above unless I have a good experience with your BJJ belt. So send me your BJJ belt and let’s see what will happen.

How to Tie a BJJ Belt?

Tying a BJJ belt is not so difficult and when you go to your BJJ gym or dojo, you need to show that you can at least tie your own BJJ belt. There are actually three common methods for it. And the video below teaches them and the instructions are very easy to follow. In addition to these, you can also see very common mistakes while people are tying their belts.

Final Thoughts

There are many BJJ belts which are made of different materials (hemp, cotton, gi materials…) and have different designs. And I am sure that you want to find a good BJJ belt to show your rank and the belts on this writing are top-rated ones on the market. With that, Maaeda shines the most among these and let’s not forget that it is made of BJJ gi material and pearl weave. And many BJJ instructors and authoritative figures consider this belt as “the best”. If you are interested, have a closer look at Maaeda on Amazon  I hope that you will progress in BJJ quickly as much as you can and you can move up a new belt in jiu-jitsu ; )

  1. Great review Furkan. I have said it before and I’ll say it again you need to pay more for the quality otherwise you are throwing your money away.

With that said I look into getting the Maaeda brand. I can only see that the drawback with this belt is that the color does fade, eventually. How long can you expect it to last until it fades?

    1. Hi man, Maaeda is just one of the higher-end belts and even though you do sparring, grappling frequently, considering the feedback the color looks good even after 1-2 years.
