This is awesome I really want to start BJJ as when I get my Taekwondo black belt, I am a red belt at the moment
I have been looking around at good BJJ schools near me but I cant really find any So I may have to do down the DVD routs and learn the basics until I find a good BJJ school
I really like the Gracie and think they do an excellent job teaching both BJJ and basic life skills like how to deal with a bully in school for kids
You have a background in martial arts and it will definitely help you. BJJ is not my first martial art either. Actually getting an instructional DVD is ideal for your situation. Since not every place has a good dojo. When you go on your jiu-jitsu journey, you will hear Gracie a lot and basically that academy is the best for teaching by far.
Hey Furkan,
Great info on BJJ DVD training video’s. The Gracie Lifestyle Combatives sounds like a great learning tool with 36 essential techniques to practice. You can’t go wrong with the Gracie BJJ, it’s probably the best on the planet! This would be great to use to help train my boys before they start going to classes. Thanks for the great training resources.
Best,
Marcus
Exactly Gracie is my main source for everything related to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. There are many techniques to learn and master so surely it will take your time Marcus.
Hey there, very interesting article!
I have actually joined a seminar with Rener Gracie and it was one of the most humbling and helpful experiences of my life. I think it is awesome that DVDs are now more common, also for a sport like BJJ so that practitioners that do not have access to such seminars can lern very helpful lessons from the best!
I am impressed yeah I know that this community is tight and also heard that Rener Gracie’s conferences are quite good and fun. Right now I am in Asia and can’t travel to other countries but if I will ever attend one of his conferences I would feel really lucky. More and more people learn and practice BJJ with videos and as you said, many people just don’t have an opportunity to listen to him and learn from him. So I think if someone can’t go to a proper BJJ academy, Gracie DVD is the next best thing.
