Venum “Challenger Extreme” is made of polyester and this sturdy bag is also waterproof so you don’t need to worry about it at all. This bag is quite big and one of the largest bags for wrestling and BJJ. So you can put all of your training (wrestling, judo etc.) equipment in it easily.

3. Hayabusa Ryoko Gym Duffel Bag

Alternative bag for wrestlingDurability: 9.1 / 10.0

Empty Space: 9.2 / 10.0

Quality / Price Rating: 9.3 / 10.0

Exclusive Features

  • Durable materials
  • Has a lot of space
  • Looks cool
  • Light
  • I have amazing experiences with it!

The ventilation system keeps your gear fresh and odor free. Hayabusa Ryoko is made of ripstop polyester and as you may know, this material is also used for making BJJ gi pants. It is quite sturdy and stretching does not affect the construction of it.

My experiences: If you followed my g+ you would have known that I borrowed this bag from a friend who trained BJJ in Thailand. Alright, it is not a popular bag like the other bags on this list, however, I used it around 4 months and it was really sturdy and the cover material feels “natural”. I was able to put all my BJJ gears (mouth guard, rash guard, gi) and other training equipment without any problem. With that, it just does the job just fine and it was my friend’s gym bag which had been used for two years and it was still going strong. So considering my experiences and company’s reputation, Hayabusa Ryoko Gym Duffle Bag can be a solid choice. And as a side note, this is the only BJJ gym bag on the list which I have experiences with! In addition to these, it is actually lighter than many other gym bags and it is definitely something to consider.

I also did a research on wrestling forums and according to it, you can use this bag more than 3 years!

4. Meister Breathable Chain Mesh Duffel Gym Bag

good judo gym bagDurability: 8.8 / 10.0

Empty Space: 8.9 / 10.0

Quality / Price Rating: 9.6 / 10.0

Exclusive Features

  • Durable materials
  • Very light
  • Good airflow
  • Does the job fine
  • Great quality-price ratio
  • Really cheap price!

The materials are sturdy and light and the mesh panels are bigger than usual. This provides constant air in and air out. So after you put your sweaty wrestling shoes or judo gi, you can be sure that it will get rid of the odor eventually!

Another interesting quality is that this bag’s handles provide support for the shape. So this bag keeps looking cool whether it is full or not.

Guys this bag is less than 1 pound which is very light for a gym bag. It has also small pockets which have zippers so you can put your phone, wallet etc. in it.

Lastly, it has a really amazing price. If you are interested, check out the latest price of Meister.

Why do you need good BJJ, judo and wrestling gym bags?

Firstly if you are doing BJJ, wrestling or Judo, you need a bag which has lots of space. You need your BJJ gi to stay wrinkle free or after you put your wrestling headgear in a bag, the construction should not be affected by stretching. Also, after a hard workout, your wrestling shoes, judo gis etc. need constant air flow for drying. In this way, the durability periods improve and you can use your equipment longer and no one wants their shoes to smell, right? In this way, it can prevent bacterial invasion and save you from an odor.

Don’t Settle for Low-quality and Overpriced Gym Bags!

You can see a myriad of overpriced BJJ, wrestling and judo gym bags of popular gym bag brands. Seriously these are just overpriced gym bags and many of them don’t even have suitable qualities for BJJ, wrestling or judo gears. With that, there are actually fairly priced and good gym bags which are generally made by jiu-jitsu companies. And thanks to the top-notch (ballistic) material quality and lots of empty space, Elite Sports is actually preferred a lot and in my opinion, it also looks really awesome. 1. Tough choices but I think I favor the Venum. I’ve had a duffel gym bag similar to the Meister and it wasn’t my favorite, best thing was it folded up to almost nothing. I prefer the style, color and features of the Venum. Great review, thanks.

  2. Thanks for ranking these bags by overall rating, and also for including a price rating–very helpful! The convertibility of the Venum bag makes it look pretty attractive, but its price rating makes me want to look more closely at other options.

    1. Quality-price ratio is always important while buying anything and when it comes to gym bags, you should even look more since price can go up a lot! Venum is one of the most versatile bags on the market and even though you pay more, in my opinion, it worths the money. As you stated, it is convertible and has a lot of compartments so you can put extra jiu-jitsu or training stuff in them.
