Obviously getting a BJJ Gi which gives you more than your money’s worth is everyone’s wish and yes, there are actually best cheap BJJ Gis for beginners on the market. Also, when you check the prices of these Gis, I am sure that you will be pleasantly surprised.
These BJJ Gis below do not only get good reviews and feedbacks on forums many BJJ (local and commercial) gyms actually suggest them to their students and some of them are actually in best jiu-jitsu gi lists!
Without further ado let’s start with the overview of the most quality one…
Important Note about Sizing: The Gis below have very good fitting ratings.
1. Anthem Aesthetics CLASSIC
Check It Out: on Amazon

Quality / Price Rating: 9.3 / 10.0
- Pearl weave (450 gsm)
- Ergonomic and simple design
- Gets rid of sweat well
- IBJJF certified!
- Good quality price ratio
- One of the best!
Anthem Aesthetic provides you what you need without being too fancy. This is why 450 gsm pearl weave jacket and 10 oz. ripstop pants can have a good price tag.
It has tapered design and basically, it does not give you extra room, however, the design of jacket provides a full range of motion. This is why you can see this gi on many best lists.
Also, cotton wicks the moisture quite well.
Even though the price is not exactly “affordable”, this IBJJF approved Gi is not expensive either. Seriously, you don’t need to spend a lot of money to get a top-notch Gi. Considering the quality (durability, training performance…), I highly suggest you grab your own and check out the sizing information on here.
As a final note, Anthem Aesthetics always cares a lot about the products and you have 30 days money back guarantee. If you don’t like this gi (I highly doubt it), you can return it and get your money back!
2. Elite Sports IBJJ Ultra Light
Training Quality: 9.1 / 10.0
Durability: 9.0 / 10.0
Comfort: 9.6 / 10.0
Quality / Price Rating: 9.5 / 10.0
- Ergonomic design
- Gets rid of sweat fast
- IBBJF approved
- Comes with a free white belt
- Good price!
Elite Sports comes with a free white belt so you can save some money with this gi and this slim fit gi gets very good feedback from many people who have different body types.
Collars are thicker and can come in handy while you are sparring on BJJ mats. As a side note, the materials are processed with anti-microbial technology and this prevents odor.
Also, I honestly hate the first wash. Since I have no idea how much it would shrink but you don’t need to concern about that for this particular gi because it comes pre-shrunk.
You can wear this gi a lot and it is basically made for frequent BJJ training sessions. The stitching of this gi is also solid and stretches optimally without hurting the durability of the pants or the jacket.
You have many color selections including navy. If you are interested, you can check out the awesome training video on the product page.
Considering all of these (freedom, antimicrobial materials), it gives you more than your money’s worth! You can also check out the review video below.
3. Sanabul Essentials v.2
Training Quality: 8.8 / 10.0
Durability: 9.3 / 10.0
Comfort: 9.6 / 10.0
Quality / Price Rating: 9.0 / 10.0
- Pearly weave
- New improved model
- No shrinking
- Can be washable in cold water
- Comes with a free belt!
This pearl weave gi has a slim fit cut and it is light. It is actually one of the lightest Gis on the market.
One thing is to note that you can wash Sanabul in cold water so it won’t shrink! Obviously, if you want to make it smaller, you can wash it in hot water however the shrinkage will be less than normal.
This pearl weave gi has good thermal regulating qualities and it is a solid option for long and sweaty sessions.
Old Reviews and Why You Don’t Need to Worry about Them: Sanabul’s older models have horrible feedback about shrinkage. After a couple of months older models literally become useless. These old models shrink more than 7 finger width after a couple of months. This would just suck, right? However, this new improved model comes as pre-shrunk and the materials shrink way less than normal. So, you can wear this model without worrying about the shrinkage for long years to come.
My Research: Sanabul Essentials is one of the most preferred Gis for BJJ classes and you can see it in many dojos.

4. Hawk Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Suit
Training Quality: 8.6 / 10.0
Durability: 8.9 / 10.0
Comfort: 9.1 / 10.0
Quality / Price Rating: 9.8 / 10.0
- Pearl Weave
- Quality cotton
- Ergonomic design
- Pants get rid of sweat well
- Great quality price ratio!
- I have good experiences with it!
My experiences: I wore this gi over 7 months and even though the gi brand is not popular as the others, I have good experiences with it. Basically, I was doing regular grappling sessions with it in a martial arts gym in Samut Prakan, Thailand. If you are following my social media accounts, you would probably know that I spent a considerable amount of time in there with this gi. Anyway, it provided a good range of motion and even though the canvas is not the most comfortable material, I felt comfortable enough with it. With that, I generally did my grappling dummy sessions with it and the pants gave less freedom than I had anticipated but it was still decent and the pearl weave jacket definitely gets at least B+ for the training performance. As a side note, I have an average body and it also gets good feedback from people who have a lanky body type.
Canvas gets rids of sweat quite fast and if you are doing your sessions in a hot climate, this quality can be useful for you.
Guys, you simply can’t find a quality pearl weave gi in this price range and Hawk Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Suit comes with a 1 year warranty period!
5. FUJI BJJ UNIFORM
Training Quality: 8.4 / 10.0
Durability: 9.1 / 10.0
Comfort: 8.5 / 10.0
Quality / Price Rating: 9.2 / 10.0
- Pants get rid of sweat fast
- IBJJF approved
- Really good price!
This gi is really sturdy. Seams, design, materials are chosen for long durability. With that, this kimono is not heavy but it is not the lightest one either. The collar is thicker than usual and as you know, this can improve the defense during sparring and in competitions!
It uses Fuji Special blend and many people are sure that it is a blend of pearl and single weave and gives a decent range of motion. As you may know, certain points have more defects than other points during BJJ sessions. These particular points are extra reinforced for longer durability.
If you are a beginner, this can be a solid choice for the first years of training and I am sure that many of you have heard Travis Stevens before and he wears this quite frequently.
Fuji BJJ Uniform is one of the most popular gis. You can check out the product page for more information and detailed sizing information. In my opinion, it also has a very good price tag.

I took some BJJ classes last spring and boy was it tough!
The classes with the Gis was fun because you can literally grip someone by their Gi and throw them lol.
I’d go for the last option, the FUJI BJJ UNIFORM. I need the sweat resistant feature. I sweat a lot and I hate being soaked during a workout.
That model provides good airflow and if you are still not comfortable and sweat a lot, you can also get a rash guard.
