Best Heavy Bags – The Ultimate Guide

Punching experience durability, rebound rate…. These ALL affect our boxing or any other martial arts training quality. And I reviewed lots of heavy bags on this site and below there are best heavy bags among them. These have amazing features and some of them incredibly long warranty periods.

Please note that these bags on this list are in hanging class if you are interested in free standing punching bags click here.

Let’s start with the table of these excellent bags…

[table id=6 /]

Durability Rating: 10.0 / 10.0

Best Place to Buy: Amazon

Outslayer can give lifetime warranty for this product. Yes you read it right 😉 But how can they make a bold claim like that? Firstly this bag won’t have any tough or soft spots. It uses shredded clothes as filler and you can add weights (sand bags) up to 350 Ibs.  “½ rule of body weight” applies when you choose heavy bag so I don’t think anyone will need the full capacity. With that it has also heavy duty (lead free) vinyl cover which is made in America.

This bag also has D ring, which you can find in only most quality heavy bags. This provides extra support for the bag. Outslayer comes with a swivel and chain so you just need a stand or heavy bag hanger then you are good to go. And it is quiet tall so you can do very low kicks with it and let’s not forget that it is always reviewed as silent. So if you think of using it in home or just want a silent one, it is an INCREDIBLE option. And company says “lifetime warranty equals 75 years” in its manual. Well I don’t think anyone can train boxing or any other martial arts that long 😉 Also its filler is fabric and you can add sand bags if you want more resistance or you can empty weights (fabric) according to your need.

If you are looking for a top notch quality bag then buy your Outslayer. I am sure that you will have excellent workout sessions with it.

2. Outslayer Muay Thai Heavy Bag

Exclusive Features

  • Heavy duty vinyl cover
  • 10 years warranty and VERY durable
  • Incredibly smooth punching experience
  • Have quality straps (no chain required)
  • Can add weights (shredded fabric) to bag
  • Best brand in its category (in my opinion)

Warranty: 10 years

Weight: 130 Ibs (If it desired, it can be filled up to 300 Ibs)

Height: 72”

Training Quality Rating: 10.0 / 10.0

Durability Rating: 9.5 / 10.0

Outslayer truly has the best heavy bags on the market with that this bag also has heavy duty vinyl cover, 10 years of warranty and fabric as filler. So what is the difference with the first Outslayer bag? Well there are two differences. Firstly other’s cover material is “slightly” better. And secondly the first one has strategically placed D ring to have maximum support. With that this one’s warrant period is 10 years. And it is more affordable. I also have couple of training sessions with this bag and it gives “natural” striking experience and optimal swing rate. You can also add and empty weights (fabric) very easily. This bag comes with very quality straps and you don’t need a chain. Outslayer Muay Thai Heavy Bag has seriously very good quality price ratio and I also reviewed other Outslayer’s other bags and if you are interested click here.

Outslayer took first and second spots because these are literally perfect bags, provide optimal swing rate and have much longer warranties. I also used Outslayer bag with their heavy bag stand. I had amazing punching experience in my boxing training and I strongly suggest you to pick up either of these two bags. These will only cost you more initially however these will save you lots of money in long term.

3. TITLE Leather Heavy Bag – 150 lbs

Exclusive Features

  • LEATHER cover
  • 4 months warranty (yet VERY durable)
  • Incredibly smooth and “natural” striking experience
  • BEST cover material
  • Chain and swivel included

Warranty: 4 months

Weight: 150 Ibs

Height: 48”

Training Quality Rating: 9.0 / 10.0

Durability Rating: 9.0 / 10.0

Leather is generally too expensive for a heavy bag. When genuine leather is used instead of synthetic even boxing glove’s price can be doubled. Actually it is the case with Title too and it has “relatively” higher price.

Title has genuine leather cover so not only it will give natural and smooth punching experience, it will also be durable.

Let’s not forget that it also won’t hold any dust and has D ring for extra stability. As policy Title gives 4 months warranty however this bag’s quality is really top notch. It will really last long and give your money’s worth.

With that you can’t add or empty weights. Other than these features Title Leather Heavy Bag will give you good swing rate.

4. Ringside Leather 100 lbs

Exclusive Features

  • LEATHER cover
  • 4 months warranty (yet VERY durable)
  • Incredibly smooth punching experience
  • BEST cover material
  • Soft fill as filler
  • Chain and swivel included

Warranty: 4 months (money back guarantee)

Weight: 100 Ibs

Height: 42”

Training Quality Rating: 9.0 / 10.0

Durability Rating: 8.8 / 10.0

Ringside has amazing leather and it supports weight better with D ring at the bottom. This will help you to get optimal swing rate. You will also get very “natural” striking experience as you get with Title and this one also comes with swivel and chains.

Ringside is really popular and lots of people train with it in boxing gyms. It always gets amazing feedback for both its durability and striking experience. It uses soft filler and it goes REALLY well with the leather. When companies produce bags with leather they generally use very quality filler material so customers like you and I get the best striking experience. Ringside Leather can be a really good choice for everyone.

Let’s continue with review of most versatile heavy bag…

5. Everlast Omni

Exclusive Features

  • Synthetic leather as cover material
  • 4 months warranty (yet durable)
  • Striking variation with handles
  • Foam as filler
  • Chain and swivel included

Warranty: 4 months (money back guarantee)

Weight: 100 Ibs

Height: 36”

Training Quality Rating: 10.0 / 10.0

Durability Rating: 8.3 / 10.0

Everlast Omni uses synthetic leather and foam as filler. Foam is known as highly durable however synthetic leather won’t last as first four bags on this list. However this bag has AMAZING features which separate it from rest of the punching bags. It has handles so you can do lots of striking variations with it.

When you hold the bag with your hand you can practice elbow, knee strikes. It truly offers the most striking variation. There is no other heavy bag which can provide it for you. It also has lower part which is designed for kicks and it also increases the quality of striking experience.

If you think of including different types of strikes, in my opinion Everlast Omni should be your first choice.

People who want “classic” hanging punching bag…

Everlast 100-Pound Nevatear Heavy Bag

Exclusive Features

  • 4 months warranty (yet durable)
  • Classic bag
  • Adjustable chain and straps included

Warranty: 4 months (money back guarantee)

Weight: 100 Ibs

Height: 49”

Training Quality Rating: 8.0 / 10.0

Durability Rating: 8.0 / 10.0

Everlast again uses synthetic leather for this 100 Ibs bag. It is quiet and has double end attachment for extra stability. This bag is for people who look for a “classic” hanging heavy bag. It does not have fancy features like others yet Everlast Nevatear is really affordable and will provide you decent training sessions. How long it will last? I have not used this bag however I searched and find out that people still continue using this bag after 3 years without any rough edges, hard or soft spots. So considering the price it will be a great choice.

Final Thoughts

These are all best heavy bags and these have incredible features which separate them from other bags on the market. These also get amazing Best Heavy Bag Reviewfeedback and ratings on boxing forums as well. I also used Outslayer and I am quite satisfied with my experiences. With that my definite first choice would be Outslayer with life time warranty. It has lead free vinyl cover and you can add, empty weights according to your need. Even though other heavy bags are relatively cheaper when other bags become useless you will need a new one. So Outslayer Heavy bag will initially cost you more however you can train with it LIFETIME. It will surely give more than your money’s worth. Outslayer is also tall so you can do knee strikes or low kicks with it. I hope you enjoyed reading and if you have any questions about these heavy bag reviews, please leave a comment below.

    Hi Furkan,

I have checked out your posts before and must say that I prefer the standing ones rather than this kind. But I couldn’t resist just checking out these ones.

Although for the foreseeable future won’t be getting this type of bag I would definitely go with the Outslayer. I am a great believer in value for money. So at the end of the day it is best to spend that little bit more. You will get the quality and it will last you for longer.

    • Furkan says:

Actually my first choice is free standing ones too Owain,
This is exactly my thought when I get best for my money then it is a good purchase. And heavy bags are meant to be used for a very long time not just for couple of months. Outslayer is seriously a great choice and I am sure you will use it for very long time 😉

  2. Zack says:

As a beginner to MMA I am intrigued by this as I could fit a bag easily in my home. I have read the reviews and definitely feel more knowledgeable. Again, as a beginner, is it worth it to me to spend $300 vs the $50 for the Everlast?

    • Furkan says:

Man Everlast will do the job but if you will continue doing MMA training, I suggest you to have a look at more durable options like Outslayer. In the long term you can save up some money.

  3. Steven Varley. says:

I have to agree with about Everlast Omni. Too many features to pass up if you’re looking for more than just boxing.

The warranty seems a bit on the tight side. I noticed you only gave it 8.5 on durability. Is there a reason for this? Have you had experience with it?

    • Furkan says:

Everlast Omni is quite good it just offers too much for a heavy bag. Well, some of the others have sturdier cover materials and that is the only reason. However, it is still quite good. And considering the price, it offers very good value for the money.

  4. A great review Furkan. You rate most very highly, yet the price differential is quite big. As a novice myself, would you say that you get what you pay for and that spending the extra money would pay dividends in the long run? Thanks for sharing. I’d been looking at so many – it’s a minefield out there! I found this a great help in narrowing it all down.

    • Furkan says:

These heavy bags get quite feedback from boxing gyms which I know and went frequently in the past. I also have been in this industry for over a decade so I know many things about bags. I am also glad that it is helpful to you. As you said there are many overpriced bags which offers really low quality or start having defects soon and I seriously want you to get the absolute best one for you.

    Hi Furkan,
Thanks for the article, I have a son who is into MMA and wants a good bag, (we went with a used one until he became serious). We’ll probably go with the Outslayer Muay Thai Punching Heavy Bag as his Christmas gift this year.
    Thanks for the helpful article
    David

    • Furkan says:

Well, it is always nice to see young kids start MMA training, man it is sturdy and you can fill it with more shredded clothes as he grows up so he can train with a right resistance for himself.
