Reviews of Quality and Cheap Boxing Shorts (Trunks)

Alright, there are many really low-quality boxing trunks on the market. You can’t even move freely in some of them. With that, there are also some affordable boxing trunks which provide same training quality as quality boxing shorts.

I actually looked at many boxing forums and asked my friends about their boxing shorts and got their opinions as well. According to these, I gathered really cheap boxing shorts which have good quality and provide freedom for your movements.

Without further ado let’s start with the reviews of them…

Note: All boxing shorts below have sizing information on here or at the product pages. These also have great fitting rates as well.

Ringside Pro-Style Boxing Trunk

Cheap Boxing Short OverviewTraining Quality Rating: 9.3 / 10.0

Durability: 9.1 / 10.0

Quality / Price Rating: 9.9 / 10.0

Best Place to Buy: Amazon

  • Top notch material quality
  • Comfy
  • Light
  • The most quality short which has incredibly affordable price
  • Many sizes and many color selections
  • Gets great feedback on boxing forums

Your boxing short should allow you to move freely and should not bother you at all. With that, there are only some materials which allow these and the best one is satin. Ringside Pro-Style is made of this material and it has also incredibly cheap price. In my opinion, you just can’t get a better deal than this so there is no wonder why this short is one of the most popular boxing shorts on the market.

As you may know that satin also allows more air flow and you will be comfortable. It is also light and the other shorts, which are in the same price range, are made of very low-quality materials and these are generally heavier. Thanks to light material, you also get good training performance.

Due to the construction, waistband part is a bit tight and it is just a preference but I actually prefer it to be tight. Maybe I am scared that it would fall during sparring. I don’t know. However, keep in mind that it is just a “slight” tightness.

There are also many size selections and this makes sure that it will be a great fit. Seriously if you are on a budget, this is the most quality choice.

Below there is the sizing information for Ringside Boxing Shorts and it is directly acquired from Ringside’s product page. There are also many color selections including red and blue.

Farabi Pro Boxing Shorts

Farabi Pro Boxing Shorts ReviewTraining Quality Rating: 9.1 / 10.0

Durability: 8.3 / 10.0

Quality / Price Rating: 9.3 / 10.0

  • Good material quality
  • Comfy enough
  • Very light
  • Many color selections
  • Good alternative option

Alright, I have seen some really bad Farabi products before and these always get awful ratings, however, this short is totally different from them. It is made of quality satin fabric and it is comfortable enough. With that, I did some research about this short and satin-p material. According to my research, this short is a blend of satin and some other materials.

I actually don’t have the exact data how this blend affects the durability but considering my boxing clothing and gear experiences, if there is a blend then durability always gets low. Also, why does this company make this short with two materials instead of one which obviously works well? I don’t know why but this lowers the production price.

Considering the feedback of verified purchases (online shopping sites), Farabi is comfy and many people train and can do footwork smoothly.

Price: I am not saying that this short is bad but it has the same price of Ringside Pro-Style and as you read above the material quality is kind of lower. So if you ask me, your first choice should be Ringside Pro-Style (the short above). However, if you want to check out Farabi, have a look at the price on Amazon.

Why Should You Train With Boxing Shorts?

Firstly you need to train without your gear lowering your training performance so you can dodge, punch and basically do everything better. Secondly, the comfort also plays a huge role. There are also many studies which show that you can punch more powerful when you are in a more relaxed condition. Also if your short makes you hot, it causes you to spend more energy. This is not cool at all and I highly suggest you go with boxing shorts which provide comfort and training performance in a maximum way. Since you are looking for quality and cheap boxing shorts, honestly there are only a few shorts which can accomplish these and these shorts on this list just do that with incredibly cheap price tags. These are also really popular and I have seen that people train with it in many boxing commercial gyms. Even my current training partner (Mitt holder) wears one of these and well he did not complain about the short so far 😉 Ringside Pro-Style also offers very decent quality training sessions as well. If right now I needed a cheap and quality boxing short, I would go with Ringside as well. If you are interested, buy this good quality boxing trunk on Amazon.

Why are These Shorts Really Cheap?

There are many shorts which are made of good quality materials and have way more expensive price tags. However, these affordable ones on this list also get amazing ratings and feedback from all over the internet including verified buyers on Amazon. There must be a catch right? Well, in my opinion, the only difference is durability (very slight difference) and the brand name. These two brands are not well known like Cleto Reyes, so when all of these have the same price, people always go with “famous” brands. According to my experience, these are the only differences and in my opinion, while these shorts have incredibly low prices, I suggest you grab one or two 😉

I really hope that you enjoyed reading and if you have anything to share, you can have a comment below and I will get back to you as soon as possible.

  1. People are always looking for great value. Low price and good quality. So thanks for sharing this post. I liked how you compared two options. I particularly like the Farabi Pro Boxing Shorts over the Ringside Pro-Style Boxing Trunk, purely from an aesthetic perspective. And even though it scored lower on durability, at a rating of 8.3 I think it is still high enough to be worth it. I’m even considering getting one just for around the house. Don’t laugh. I’m not crazy. 🙂

    1. Farabi looks aesthetic no argument there 😉 Well even though it has a lower durability score it is just a slight difference and if you like the design this much, you should go for it 😉 I also wear boxing shorts when no one is around in home and some of my friends also do the same so you are not alone 😉

  2. I’ve boxed in uncomfortable shorts in the past and it’s super annoying. It definitely made me appreciate the value of comfortable and cool boxing shorts when you’re trying focusing on staying in the game. The tightness of the Ringside trunks is a plus for me too, I hate the feeling of my pants sagging down while boxing. Thanks for the info.

    1. Man, I have been there and it literally sucks I could not even make a decent powerful punch and many people have awesome experiences and you are now one of them 😉

  3. Hmm, I don’t box but I do work out a lot and I never considered boxing shorts for my workout shorts. But the Farabi ones look great. I may give them a try.

  4. Nice boxing shorts review. About the durability, what would make one more durable than the other? Does it simply mean that they stand up to more cycles in the wash? Or is one more resistant to tears and snags than the other?

    1. It actually depends on many things. As you said more cycles in a wash is one of them. The design also plays a huge factor since if it does not allow you move freely it will surely harm the durability of your short. Nice question Rob, I will probably include this in the writing in future, since hardly any one reads comments.

  5. This was a splendid read. Those Ringside trunks look good. I may just have to go and grab a pair. My Muay Thai Club and I are planning a small, in house tournament and I will need to look sharp for it, so I will need some solid trunks. Wish me luck!

I do have a question though. Is there anyway to get boxing shorts without the company labels or logo on them? I find I train better without the distraction of some words. It is a little thing, but it makes a big difference.

Thank you for sharing and I hope you make it a great day!

    1. Man, I am not sure whether you can kick with Ringside or not. You need to read some more reviews for that. But you will stand out for sure with it.
You can order custom shorts online and get some shorts with no writing.
