5 Really Cool MMA Shorts for Your Training

I really like the looks of MMA shorts. Some of them look really cool however not all good looking MMA shorts can give you freedom for kicking well and long durability period etc.

So, I gathered 5 really quality and cool MMA shorts from my experiences, forums and online resources. Below, you can find the overviews of these and ALL shorts on this list have sizing information on the product pages so you can choose them accordingly.

Let’s start with the coolest MMA short which has really good quality…

1. CLINCH GEAR Performance

The Coolest MMA ShortTraining Quality Rating (Ground work + Freedom): 9.4 / 10.0

Durability: 9.3 / 10.0

Quality / Price Rating: 9.3 / 10.0

Pros

  • Very quality materials (Suede fabric)
  • Light
  • Provides a lot of freedom for kicking
  • Incredibly comfortable
  • Many color selections
  • Many professional fighters train with it
  • Many design selections (I loved the gray one)
  • Looks awesome

Clinch Gear Performance is made of suede micro fabric which is soft and man, it can stretch. I think this is why this short is sold like crazy. This material is also known for providing comfort. Of course the mesh panels help with the comfort and getting rid of the moisture, however, the leather also helps.

According to verified buyers, groin area stretches well so when you wear a cup underneath the short, it will not bother you one bit and this is a huge plus because a myriad of MMA shorts simply can’t pull it off.

All of these materials are top-notch and many people (forums, trainers etc.) are rolling on the ground and kicking with this short and I always see very good feedbacks on many MMA forums.

It has many awesome color selections. When you go to Amazon you can find detailed sizing information.

2. Anthem Athletics RESILIENCE

Overview of Coolest MMA ShortTraining Quality Rating (Ground work + Freedom): 9.1 / 10.0

Durability: 8.9 / 10.0

Quality / Price Rating: 8.9 / 10.0

Pros

  • Good material quality
  • Good training performance
  • Resistant to tear
  • Durable
  • Quality waistband
  • A myriad of color and design selections
  • Has the greatest quality price ratio

It is made of quality fabric and again you don’t have any problem when you do ground work or while kicking. The slits are a bit sharper than normal. Considering the feedback, it works just fine and I also have experiences with Anthem Athletics Resilience.

My experiences: One time I forgot to bring my MMA short to Samut Prakan, Thailand and I borrowed Anthem from a guy and luckily it fitted me well. The waistband holds the short quite well and I sweated less than normal. Also, I rolled on the ground a lot with it and the waistband did the job perfectly. It basically stayed where it was all the time. With that, even though the waistband is quite good, it was not tight so blood flow goes on as usual. Considering that some low-quality shorts can hinder blow flow this is another plus of it.

This is the only MMA short on this list which I have experience with and I know that it will do the job very well.

It has aggressive slit style and even though I don’t remember how much freedom it provided however people give great feedback and soon I will have a best of list and Anthem Athletics Resilience will be on that list for sure.

The picture above shows a dull design however you have lots of cool color and design selections including snow and navy designs. As a final note, it has also impressive fitting rate.

3. Men’s Mixed Martial Art Shorts by VERUS

Overview of good looking MMA shortsTraining Quality Rating (Ground work + Freedom): 9.1 / 10.0

Durability: 8.3 / 10.0

Quality / Price Rating: 9.8 / 10.0

Pros

  • Very light
  • Comfy enough
  • Has good feedback on forums
  • Different design

Alright, the materials have normal quality. It is made of polyester fabric and you can train with it around a year. However, after a certain point, it will start stretching more than it should be and it will be baggy. So after a year, this will affect the training quality badly. But still, the price is very good for one-year decent training sessions.

The waistband is designed well and it makes sure that Verus stays at the right place.

It has very different designs and it is a solid and affordable alternative.

4. Anthem Athletics INFINITY-X

Training Quality Rating (Ground work + Freedom): 9.3 / 10.0

Durability: 8.0 / 10.0

Quality / Price Rating: 9.8 / 10.0

Pros

  • Good design
  • Comfy enough
  • Cool looks
  • More affordable Anthem option

This is the second Anthem MMA short on this list. Both shorts have exactly the same design and a bit larger slits. I know that many people get Anthem for the design and freedom of movement. It provides you to kick high and roll on the ground quite well without any restriction of movement.

So I think that you already guessed the difference between this one and the first Anthem short on this list. Yes, it is the material quality. This one’s quality is a bit lower than the first short however the price is cheaper and it has red, orange and green color options.

If you are on a budget, want “Anthem Design” and a cool design, you will love Athletics INFINITY-X.

5. Pro Gel Fight Shorts UFC MMA Grappling Short

cool looking MMA short overviewTraining Quality Rating (Ground work + Freedom): 8.8 / 10.0

Durability: 8.5 / 10.0

Quality / Price Rating: 9.7 / 10.0

Exclusive Features

  • Will do the job
  • Comfy enough
  • Good feedback for kicking
  • Hardcore design

The slits are perfectly positioned and groin area provides a little bit more space than normal. However, keep in mind that it is definitely not baggy. According to feedbacks on forums and verified buyers, the mesh panels provide good air flow. However, the material quality is nothing spectacular which is a material called stretch fabric. It sounds cool but it has good stretching capabilities but it does not have good durability. With that, you can train with it around one year and it has really hardcore design.

Pro Gel Fight Shorts is one of the most popular shorts on the market. I have seen it 2 times in the last month while I am training in Samut Prakan and I also have seen it time to time before I come here. Even though I don’t have the data for online sales, Pro Gel Fight is quite popular.

Price: Go on Amazon for the price.

Final Thoughts: These are really cool MMA shorts which can give you great training performance. I also have seen them over and over again in MMA gyms. With that, I have not mentioned it writing, however, these also have very good fitting rates as well. I hope that you enjoyed reading and if you want to talk about your coolest MMA short, just leave a comment below 😉

  1. Gomer Magtibay says:

While starting at these shorts, I was wondering if these are good for jogging as well? My only sports is running, and I love to jog every morning. When you do it daily, and you only have few shorts in your clothes closet, people get notice you only have few or limited shorts, and that’s shameful sometimes. So, I am considering buying more, maybe additional of 5 pairs.

Are these kind of shorts good for jogging?

    • Furkan says:

Many of my friends wear these shorts in their daily lives since these have really awesome designs. When you see someone on the street who wears a really hardcore short which looks a bit tight at the waist, you are probably looking at an MMA short. Yes, it is also suitable for running. You can move quite freely in MMA shorts.

  2. Sal Bellavia says:

i do MMA fighting to and was looking for some good shorts that give me the flexibility i need for kicking. i tried other shorts but they always ripped at the groin area. It’s quite annoying if you know what i mean? Especially when your in the ring, very embarrassing. You said you tried Anthem Athletics RESILIENCE. How did it hold up in the ring?

    • Furkan says:

Yeah, I really understand you. The shorts which don’t have enough flexibility just suck and they can tear apart in a second. As you said, especially groin area is a common place for tearing apart.

I only sparred and did some techniques on grappling dummies with Anthem Athletics Resilience and stretching in the groin area is quite good. Even though I wore a bulky MMA cup, it held the cup and did not get stretched extra.
So if you are thinking of competing (amateur or professional) in the ring, considering my own experiences, I think that it will do the job just fine.

  3. Ben Farrell says:

I really like your in depth reviews of these shorts, personally I prefer the Anthem Athletics RESILIENCE black design as you’re showing here, even though you describe it as dull that is just how I like them. I think I would wear them as an everyday pair of shorts because they look that cool to me, would I look stupid walking the streets in them though lol?

    • Furkan says:

The design is not bad at all but not everyone likes the black color : ) I personally like the hardcore design of Venum and more colors.

You can wear them because these are not so tight so you will not look like a douchebag. I know plenty of people who wear MMA shorts and go to gym and workout.
