Everlast Boxing Gloves Review – The Complete Guide

So I think everyone, who watches boxing or does boxing training, knows Everlast. The brand is just so famous. And when you watch Mohammed Ali highlights etc. you can also see the brand’s products. They have been dominating the industry for a very long time. Obviously, boxing gloves are Everlast’s one of the best-seller products. With that, is this everything and can you get any Everlast pair? It has some quality pairs however it has also some average and horrible gloves as well. In this Everlast Boxing Gloves review you will see these pairs’ pros, exclusive features, cons and also sizing information for your hand.

Everlast ProTex2 EverGel Training Gloves

Everlast ProTex2 EverGel Training GlovesProtection Rating: 9.0 / 10.0

Training Quality Rating: 9.2 / 10.0

Durability: 9.1 / 10

Quality / Price Rating: 9.4 / 10.0

Best Place to Buy: Amazon

Pros

  • Very quality gel (padding)
  • Good wrist support
  • Have all safety features
  • Good air circulation
  • Amazing feedback for moisture wicking features
  • Suitable for ALL training types
  • Best quality pair of Everlast

Everlast Protex2 uses gel technology for its padding and it gets very good reviews. With that this pair has the most amazing wrist support and you can do long heavy bag sessions with it.

So what about thermal regulation? Will you be relaxed during this long session? Everlast has many pairs and some pairs are just horrible about it and don’t provide any air circulation whatsoever. With that Everlast ProTex2 has great feedback for its thermal regulation and the liner wicks sweat and moisture quite well. You can use this pair for every training type including punching bag, double end bag, sparring and focus mitts. It has attached thumb so your partner’s eyes will be also safe 😉

If I get an Everlast Pair, I will definitely go with ProTex2 .

Everlast Pro Style Training Gloves

Everlast Pro Style Training Gloves ReviewProtection Rating: 8.7 / 10.0

Training Quality Rating: 8.3 / 10.0

Durability: 9.0 / 10

Quality / Price Rating: 9.6 / 10.0

Pros

  • Has all safety features
  • Suitable for all training types
  • Good padding quality
  • Most popular pair of Everlast
  • Amazing quality price ratio

Alright let’s continue with the most popular pair of Everlast. This pair is literally sold like crazy. And there are many boxing gyms which order this pair for their classes.

When you ask “which pair can give decent training session and has a very good price”, Everlast Pro Style is your answer. And this pair has regular padding and not the “Gel Tech”. Well I have not used any pair with” Gel Tech” and you can call it old fashion but I always prefer choosing padding over gel. Because it just works fine 😉

All I can is that this pair is the best pair in this price range. And if you will begin boxing training and don’t want to spend a lot of money, then it is also a very solid option. It will give good quality punching experience at least a year.

Everlast Prime Boxing Gloves

Everlast Prime Boxing Gloves ReviewProtection Rating: 8.2 / 10.0

Training Quality Rating: 8.8 / 10.0

Durability: 8.0 / 10

Quality / Price Rating: 8.3 / 10.0

Pros

  • Has all safety features
  • Suitable for all training types
  • Amazing heavy bag training performance
  • Good padding quality
  • Good design (faster punches)

Everlast Prime has an exclusive feature and I should say it at the beginning and it is the design. Thanks to that, you will punch faster and padding will protect your knuckles. Its air regulating features will also make your hands comfortable during the training.

It secures your wrists extra well and many people, who have verified purchases, give feedback like it is tighter and more secure than other pairs.

These features just make it very suitable for punching bag training. And if you consider spending lots of time with heavy bag, then Everlast Prime is a solid option.

And here is the worst pair…

Everlast Boxing Training Gloves Elite Pro Style

Everlast Boxing Gloves ReviewProtection Rating: 7.0 / 10.0

Training Quality Rating: 7.8 / 10.0

Durability: 6.0 / 10

Quality / Price Rating: 6.3 / 10.0

Features

  • Suitable for all training types
  • Have all safety features
  • Can do the job around 6-9 months

Cons

  • Will have rough spots soon
  • “Average wrist support” feedback

If you read any posts in this site before, you might have seen that I really care about wrist support. Because I have a problematic right wrist and I never get a pair which has regular wrist support. It should be extra well, period. Is this pair’s wrist support bad? Well not bad but it is not excellent either. People, who have this pair, give “average” ratings for this feature and not a single one says something like “Everlast Elite Pro secures my wrists well”. Considering the safety I would just go with one of the pairs above.

Its cover material seems to have defects after a couple of months of usage. It won’t be a problem for heavy bag training however if you do sparring while having rough spots, it can make your sparring partner bleed. And it can also hurt focus mitts’ cover material as well.

What about its durability? Its padding quality is just well and Everlast Elite Pro provides you good workouts with a punching bag. But sooner or later it will have these rough spots and it can harm the padding quality. This will also affect the durability badly. I highly suggest you stay away from this pair and you have many other quality Everlast pair choices (pairs above).

Conclusive Thoughts

There are many Everlast boxing gloves on the market and their quality changes drastically from one pair to another. With that Everlast ProTex2 gets amazing feedback for its training performance and safety from boxing forums and amazon. You can do all training types (focus mitt, punching bag, double end bag, sparring) with it. And it is my first Everlast pick as well.

Why does Same Everlast Pair have both Horrible and Good Reviews?

Alright you might have seen very bad and very good reviews for the same pair. However, you should consider that EVERYONE buys Everlast gloves. Some people are just beginners, some prepare for tournament and some just do heavy bag training once in a while. So some people just don’t go “hard” enough and don’t see any defects of it.

When there are so many customer profile types, it is unavoidable that exact same pair has many different reviews. With that I gathered the information in this post from boxing, martial arts forums and there are also my experiences as well. I hope that you enjoyed reading and if you have any questions related to Everlast boxing gloves review, just leave a comment below.

  1. This was a very informative post on boxing gloves! I had no idea that you can buy them with so many different features. I especially like the fact the Everlast ProTex 2 EverGel gloves provide for good air circulation, which is a definite plus. They also have the attached thumb so that it will be extra protection for your boxing partner. They definitely take safety into account:) Thank you for writing an interesting blog on the different types of Everlast Boxing Gloves!
    Blessings:)

    1. There are even more features when you consider different training types like mitts : ) ProTex 2 is not bad about that department at all. It has bigger air channels than other Everlast Gloves and considering the training performance, it should be the only Everlast Boxing Gloves which you should ever consider.

  2. My first pair of boxing gloves were Everlast and at first I thought they were great…that is…until i Started training in Mixed martial arts. I don’t think it’s necessarily the brand that wasn’t good, it was the specific pair, If you are going to go with Everlast then I think you should go a little higher on pay. Great and accurate review!!!

    1. The brand is just too famous and every sports store has them. I can even see the brand in many television shows like Luke Cage. So I am really not surprised that you punched the first time with an Everlast Gloves. Exactly martial arts training generally require dexterity. Punching technique and protection also have vital importance. And I am sure this is where your pair failed.

I also agree that price determines the quality when it comes to gloves. Everlast Training Gloves, which have a higher price, have a good padding at the knuckle compartment and the inner lining is also well stitched unlike other Everlast Gloves so you may want to give that a shot.
