Fairtex BGV14 Review

Fairtex Bgv14 Review

Fairtex has been around for more than four decades and the popularity of the company has been growing rapidly for the last decade after Muay Thai became insanely popular. The founder of Fairtex brought many famous fighters to Thailand and they trained with Fairtex Gears. Thanks to this, Fairtex became one of the fastest growing martial arts company.

BGV series is arguably the most popular boxing gloves series on the market and as far as my knowledge goes, this series has more than 10 boxing gloves. Some of them are quite similar however some of them are quite different and BGV14 is somewhere in between and in Fairtex BGV14 review you can read all the details about this pair.

Firstly, BGV14 is a training type pair and you can do every training type including mitt drills and bag work with it.

This model is made of a different material which is Micro Fiber. The other Fairtex Gloves especially BGV series are made of really tough materials and it is really not everyone’s cup of tea and this pair is not really soft like Twins Special but it is not tough as other BGV models.

Also when you want to use this pair for sparring, you don’t run into issues like you do with Fairtex BGV9. Because it is “softer” and it is good for your sparring partners’ safety and thanks to this leather the skin is also less irritated. So if you will do sparring, considering the leather and the less stiff padding, Fairtex BGV14 is just a better choice than the other Fairtex Gloves.

The durability of this material is above average. This material is also used for making grappling dummies and can take tear and wear for a long time. The durability is between 2 and 3 years.

The padding is also softer than the other gloves just like the cover material. It can stretch better. So you can clinch better with it and the grappling performance will definitely improve.

What about Striking?

It has the same distribution as many other Fairtex Gloves, however, the foam has lower density and it has less weight, however, it is only a few grams. And it is not stiff like the others and you can easily make a fist. However, the padding lasts a couple of months less than usual. Shortly, the padding improves the training performance and you can make a fist easier with it so you will just have better sessions. However, as you read above it lasts less (around 2-3 months) than other gloves of the brand. Shortly you win some you lose some.

The padding is mostly on the knuckle part and the sides have less padding than usual. Considering the striking performance, the distribution is basically the same as other Fairtex Gloves which do the job just fine.

The thumb compartment has a curve and it is one of the factors which helps to make a fist easier and it provides a more natural feeling.

Another difference between this one and BGV9 is that BGV14 has a larger and bigger wrist closure which provides more stabilization thus it provides more support.

Alright, if you know Fairtex this brand’s gloves generally have quite long break-in periods. However, BGV14 is made of different materials and the padding is not so stiff. These basically shorten this period significantly. These shorten the period at least by half.

I am actually one of the people who complain about the break-in period and if you are like me, BGV14 is a great option.

Comfort: Thanks to the padding and the leather, BGV14 lets even more air in and out than any other Fairtex Boxing Gloves which get perfect feedback for the comfort. It has soft leather which provides more heat exchange with outside.

Considering comfort, Fairtex BGV14 is one of the best if not the best.

Fairtex BGV14 also has really awesome designs and color combinations. I personally loved the military green and it is definitely a good match with the design.

How is the Cost Efficiency? Basically, you get exactly what you pay for. It is definitely not overpriced and actually if I would price these gloves I also would choose a price tag which is quite close to the current price tag.

Another Plus: The leather is synthetic and even though I did not use this pair according to my experience, it is way easier to clean.

Conclusion: Fairtex BGV14 has some great padding which does not move much after you punch and offers amazing comfort. If you are tired of this brand’s other gloves, which are extra hard and hard to make a fist, then BGV14 will be a breeze.

In this Fairtex BGV14 review, I talked about the differences between BGV14 and other models and provided all the information you need for training performance, foam, padding distribution… However, if you need any more information or want me to compare it with other boxing gloves, you can leave a comment below.

  1. Very interesting Furkan. I have to admit I am not very knowledgeable about Martial Arts, although I have read a lot of good things about it as far as self-defense and learning self-control.
I have a granddaughter that is very much interested in this and I think she is enrolled in some classes. She is 15 now and just beginning. Which glove would you recommend and what other advice would you give her?
I am going to send this website to her as I am sure she will be interested. Thanks for opening my eyes to some new interest. Best to you!

    1. Hi Wayne,

I am sure she will benefit from this site as there is seriously good information on this site.
My first advice is that she needs to be patient and give time. Even though she will learn only self-defense and not all boxing techniques, it will take time. As far as I know and experienced, training type boxing gloves are used in self-defense classes and Fairtex BGV14 is also a training type pair so she can use it without any problem whatsoever.

  2. Thank you so much for this information. I am saving it for my husband, He loves martial arts and I have been thinking of getting him a pair for Christmas. I am going to show him this review and see if it is something he would like. I think he’s going to love them but I see you also have other reviews, so that is perfect. Thank you for compiling all this info.

    1. Anyone, who is a martial artist, should own Fairtex. At least he should try it out. I do have other reviews on the site however if you are looking for a suitable gift, check out these awesome gifts for boxers. After reading that writing, you will have way more ideas.

  3. I have a friend who will benefit from this post, he will love this pair of boxing gloves. I will forward this post to him. I found it a very interesting read. Thanks for sharing.

    1. He can use this pair in all training types and it has truly some unique qualities like the padding and it is not really as hard as other gloves of the BGV series. I really appreciate if you pass it along.

  4. Hello Furkan, nice review. I have always wanted some spare time to learn some boxing techniques. I will be taking boxing classes soon, so I will need some boxing gloves soon. The Fairtex BGV14 is what I would need. Keep up the great work!!!

    1. Hi Ahmad,
It has super shock absorbing padding and I am sure that you will love using it during your first days in the boxing gym. It is Thai style and provides a quite snug fit. The only main drawback is it can be rough on your hands, skin. Other than that, you can go for it.

  5. Hi Furkan,
My husband would love a pair of these gloves! He is always on the search for the best quality, comfort, material, and fit. I will definitely be passing this info on! Great info and site!
    ilee (:

    1. Hi Ilee,

Fairtex BGV14 will not disappoint him. If he did not have any experience with Fairtex Gloves before I am sure that he will particularly like the close fit as it is different and suits many people.

  6. Hi Furkan! I have a few friends who go to the boxing club and will definitely benefit from looking at this post! I have a bag at home and prefer to use that but my gloves are wearing so I could do with a new pair! Thanks for giving me a good option for my next pair!

    1. It does not have stiff padding and it absorbs the shock at a normal rate (it is not as fast as Title Gel World Bag Gloves). And I am sure it will be comfier than your old pair.

  7. I like what you’ve said about the gloves’ comfort rating, as I’ve heard excellent reviews regarding them personally from gym members who utilize heavy bag training as part of their overall workout regimen. I’ve been seeing more and more Fairtex BGV14 gloves in the gym and has heavy bag training over here continues to grow, I’m sure to see more of them. Just from my personal observations plus primary sources, they’re quickly rising in popularity.

    1. Yeah, it suddenly became popular. I am out of the loop these days and I really don’t know the reason. Maybe Fairtex did some good marketing recently.
