Celebrita MMA Grappling Dummy Review

My ultimate Celebrita MMA Grappling Dummy Review

If you don’t have a partner or want to improve your grappling skills without hurting anyone you need a quality and versatile grappling dummy and this will surely benefit your ground work in so many ways.

The company (Celebrita) is based in Glendale and actually doesn’t have a wide range of BJJ equipment but the ones, which are in the catalog, have a quite good quality and as a martial arts site owner, I can vouch for many of the products of Celebrita.

Celebrita MMA Grappling Dummy Review

Celebrita MMA Grappling Dummy ReviewGroundwork: 9.3 / 10.0

Durability: 9.1 / 10.0 (can be improved, see below)

Quality / Price: 9.2 / 10.0

After you get the shipment, there will be a leather smell however it is not that strong. With that, the leather has a certain quality and it will not get old any time soon.

The durability of the leather is above average and if you have an old gi or you can just buy a cheap BJJ gi, you can dress this dummy with it so you can protect the leather and it can last more. Actually, the guys in the video also did the same.

Celebrita can be bent to various positions including sprawl position, kneeling position, turtle position. So you can do many techniques, submissions like triangle, armbars chokes, kneebars…

Basically, thanks to the positioning of it, the dummy is one of the most versatile grappling dummies on the market.

Actually, there is one thing which stands out about this MMA dummy. Even though it is basically made for your ground work sessions, it is also suitable for throwing as well. So if you are a wrestler or are interested in throwing sessions, this dummy is suitable for you. However, it is tough and catching can hurt you and you can have bruises. So basically it is not suitable for catching.

Limb resistance: This can help you step up your game or if it is not optimal, you may not benefit from your time on mats. As you may have experienced, some grappling dummies are too rigid and these are just not suitable for BJJ submissions. This actually makes your arms, legs tired for no reason. However, the best part about this dummy is that it gives quite a realistic submission experience and considering the versatility (turtle position etc.), ground work performance is superb.

My Experience: I have been doing jiu-jitsu sessions around 2 years however I travel a lot and have been in many dojos. This grappling dummy is used a lot for classes and there are also many people who are different belts (white to black belt) spend their time with this dummy.

Actually considering all of these, this dummy made the top of my best grappling dummy list a long time ago.

Guys, I honestly think that it is the best. It does not matter where you are in your jiu-jitsu journey, I know that this grappling dummy will help you improve your skills. Obviously, if you grapple long enough, you will also gain strength and move faster.

If you are interested, I highly suggest you get your own Celebrita MMA Grappling Dummy on Amazon.

When you look at this grappling dummy, you can see the finest details easily. Especially limbs and the leather construction look quite good. If you want to see it closely, you can check out the video below. You can also check out which submissions you can do with it and you can also have an idea about the limb resistance. The video is quite fast so you need to watch it at a slower speed. They do a lot of grappling techniques, especially I want you to check out the armbar in the middle of the video.

It Comes Unfilled (It has also filled models!)

If you prefer getting an unfilled dummy and save some money, you can actually do it. You can fill this dummy with many filling materials including shredded fabric, cotton… I think that everyone can do it within minutes and you can find many good tutorials online. Also, if you don’t want to deal with it, you can just buy filled models since the price difference is actually not much.

Also, if you are are a young BJJ practitioner and want to train with a grappling dummy, Celebrita has smaller models and can be kids’ training partner, too.

Avoid: There are many Celebrita models which are made in Pakistan. Generally (not always), dummies, which are made in Pakistan, are made of low-quality materials and you may have totally different experience with them. With that, you don’t have that issue with many Celebrita Grappling Dummies including this one! But I thought that you should have some awareness about this issue.

So What About the Price? The leather is genuine and the dummy can bend into many positions. I know that many grappling dummies which don’t offer half of these and are more expensive than this. So the price gets A- from me.

Check out the Price

This company has a lot of dummies, however, Celebrita MMA Grappling Dummy is just superior to others and this is why I decided to review it.

If you have any questions about the overview just leave me a comment. I always reply to my readers in a day.

  1. Great review of the Celebrita mma grappling dummy. This is an important equipment to have for people who seriously want to improve their BJJ skills (I used to do mma and bjj back in the day)

Can you tell me how long is the warranty and what moves have you practiced on the dummy?

    1. Hi Cem, I agree that everyone, who are serious athletes, should practice MMA grappling dummies. Man, I really don’t want to get into warranty thing on here. I did not own this dummy and I could not find any info online. If I find a warranty period from MMA sites and if it is wrong, that is not good for me lol. So check out product page or better yet ask this question on forums.

  2. Hi Furkan, It’s a nice piece of information for anyone interested in improving his or her skills in this area. I’m new to this product but I think finding out about the warranty too will be helpful. Also, what type of leather are we talking about here?

How long does it take to receive product when ordered and can one also purchase the filling material separately? If yes, can you provide information about the filling materials and how much each cost?

    1. The limps provide resistance which is good for grappling and I agree with you. In addition to that, you can see many people, who have different belts, grapple with Celebrita. The leather is synthetic which is ideal for grappling because genuine leather stretches more and this can lower the years of usage. Man, you need to contact wherever you are shopping. So I can’t give any definite answer to your question because it depends on the store.

As for your second question, some filling materials are better than others for a specific dummy. This one gets better feedback for shredded clothes.

As a rule of thumb, the filling material quantity should be 3 times of its actual size. If you ask me, I am sure you or friends of yours have some old clothes and you can cut them into little pieces and use it for filling the dummy. In this case, you will not spend any money.

But if you need to buy the filler, the price depends on a couple of factors. For example, if you know a garment factory nearby you can buy from there. The price will be extremely cheap. And I don’t know where you live but I am sure you can order sand from online stores and if going to a garment factory is not an option, you can prefer this.

  3. Hi Furkan, you seem to cover all the bases in describing the grappling dummy and painting a clear picture which is the best one to buy. The video is amazing. You’re right, it is so fast it is hard to follow, but if you pay attention you can see what’s happening and right away understand how valuable a piece of equipment like the grappling dummy can be for certain martial arts. My grandson, who is 11 years old, takes martial arts classes, and I’m going to show this article to his Dad, who might be interested in buying this for him.

    1. Well, I described every feature in detail. I talked about limp resistance. So you can clearly see whether it is suitable for you or not.

I actually had to watch that video in slow motion to clearly see what is going on. As you said, one must be careful to understand what Is going on. 11 years old is a great age to be in martial arts. I hope that he improves his skills even more with one of these grappling dummies.

  4. Cool, I’ve been interested in jiu-jitsu and thinking about getting into it. I’ll add this dummy to my future list, thanks!

    1. This dummy can be good for beginners as it has a long durability and you can do ground work for long years. Also, it is quite versatile so you can practice many grappling techniques with this grappling dummy.
