Some of them are actually incredibly resilient and provide the same training quality performance for years! These pairs also have really good prices and this is another reason why it became really popular and in this RDX Boxing Gloves review, you can find these pairs’ pros, cons, exclusive features and also sizing information for your hand.

Unique Pros

  • Has all safety features
  • Suitable for all training types
  • Provides good sparring and focus mitt training performance
  • Amazing wrist support
  • Lasts more than 3 years
  • Amazing quality price ratio
  • No break-in period
  • The best RDX pair on the market

This pair is made for all training types.  It is made of full grain cowhide leather which is durable.

RDX pairs do not have flashy design or colors however the company obviously cares about the quality of gloves. You will notice that this pair is more padded at the upper side. This feature makes RDX Elite good for defending yourself in a sparring session. Tetra padding is actually a lot however it delivers shock quite well and protects your knuckles at the same time. It has no break-in period, so you will start having same quality punching experience as soon as you put on them.

Lots of pairs start losing “hold of the padding” with time however reinforced stitching of this pair gives extra durability, helps with hold of the padding and provides longer usage. RDX has a very similar product to this one. With that, the other pair doesn’t have a quality wrist strap. However, this one has it and your wrists will be safer with it. I can easily say that RDX Elite is the best pair of this company. It also has a seriously great quality-price ratio and in my opinion, you get more than what you pay.

Nylon mesh feature makes your hand comfortable and sweat- free (I always look for this feature). It is also very easy to wear and take it off. You can do all training types with this pair including focus mitts and you can click here to get your own RDX Elite according to the sizing information below. Another plus of RDX Elite, it has a really good fitting rate.

Youth 8-12 oz.
101-150 LBS. 12-14 oz.
151-175 LBS. 14-16 oz.
Over 175 LBS. 16-18 oz.

Note: All RDX pairs on this list are training type gloves so you can choose all of them according to the sizing information above.

RDX Boxing Gloves Ego (Maya Hide Leather)

RDX Boxing Gloves Ego (Maya Hide Leather) ReviewProtection Rating: 8.5 / 10.0

Training Quality Rating: 8.3 / 10.0

Durability: 8.0 / 10.0

Quality / Price Ratio Rating: 9.2 / 10.0

Unique Pros

  • Has all safety features
  • Suitable for all training types
  • Lasts around 2 years
  • Cheapest pair which has good quality

This company’s motto should be “you get what you pay for”. Maya Hide leather is less durable than cowhide. It will tear apart after 2 years and once this progress starts, it will have rough spots and be useless in no time. With that, you can expect to use it more than 2 years and it will surely give solid training performance during this period. It also has no break in time. So once you wear RDX Maya, you can start getting smooth punching experience.

RDX Maya Hide is suitable for all training types and it has four layers of padding. The padding distributes shock and according to a myriad of feedback on boxing forums, it protects your hand well.

Honestly, you can only get poor quality vinyl pairs in this price range whereas RDX offers good leather and training performance. RDX Maya Hide also has a ventilation system to keep your hands fresh.

Last but certainly not least it has an incredibly cheap price and you just can’t get any better quality in this price range. If these are appealing to you, check out the most recent price on Amazon. As a final note, it has many color selections including green and red.

RDX Boxing Gloves Sparring, Punching Bag Training (Kevlar)

The overview of RDX Boxing Gloves Sparring, Punching Bag Training (Kevlar)Protection Rating: 8.3 / 10.0

Punching Bag Training Quality Rating: 9.5 / 10.0

Durability: 9.0 / 10.0

Quality / Price Ratio Rating: 8.4 / 10.0

Unique Pros

  • Very sturdy
  • Has ALL safety features
  • Lasts 2-3 years
  • Provides good performance for all training types
  • The best RDX pair for heavy bag

This pair is made of very durable Kevlar and it is very sturdy. RDX gloves are for all training types including this pair, however, thanks to the material quality it actually outlasts many other RDX pairs. This actually helps you have really long sessions with heavy bag, double end bag or punch mitts. Since the cover material faces a lot of deformation during these training types and surely kevlar can take it.

The ventilation system gets rid of excess moisture and its design is different from other pairs. The padding quantity at the upper side is less than others and padding is mostly concentrated on the front side of the pair. So you can punch faster with it and all of these features make it incredibly ideal for heavy bag training sessions. Its mold allows the shock to distribute throughout the padding. So your hands will have less soreness than usual. If you consider spending time with bags and punch mitts, this pair is simply perfect. Thanks to hook and loop feature it is also very easy to wear and take off. If you are interested in getting really good training performance from heavy bag sessions, check out RDX Kevlar.

Conclusive Thoughts

RDX definitely is a good company and I can even say it is the best UK based boxing company. If you need all around genuine leather pair, which is fairly priced, then RDX Elite should be your definite first choice. If you need a training pair and want to get same training quality more than 3 years, then I strongly suggest you get your own RDX Elite. It provides good training performance for all training types and solid durability with sturdy leather.

I hope that you enjoyed my RDX Boxing Gloves review and if you any experiences, questions related to these pairs, please just leave a comment.

  1. When it comes to these gloves, do they work best with a certain type of fighter? Example, with the Cowhide leather gloves would you suggest these gloves for a power puncher, due to the more durable material? Does it even matter?

    1. Actually it does. For example Cleto Reyes is truly for knockout artists. These deliver the shock quite well and cowhide is also used for delivering shock better. I know so many gloves, which is made from that material, are used for heavy bag.

  2. I would have thought the kevlar gloves would have provided the best protection, although I’m not surprised they pretty much come out on top on other things.

    1. Well you guessed it right 😉 Kevlar is really durable and actually it is really hard to design boxing gloves which are made of Kevlar. But RDX is managed to do it and RDX Kevlar can be really good for your heavy bag training Josh.

  3. This is a really nice site that should be like paradise for boxing lovers and professionals. I like your reviews of the RDX Elite Boxing Gloves here. With all the qualities listed, they should be a good buy.

    1. Hi man, I am glad to see you here again. Well, Elite is one of the most preferred boxing gloves on the market and if I am looking for RDX pair, I would go with it too.

  4. A Healthy Me and CBD

I really like how you had comparisons and reviews on both types of gloves. That allowed me to compare with other brands as well. My son is a boxer and we are always looking for the right type of glove. We look for comfort in the fit, the impact to the hand as well as the weight. Really appreciate the info.

    1. I try doing them in every review but sometimes it takes some serious research, after all, I don’t know all the things about boxing gears.

It seems like Rdx Elite will be a good fit for your son since it has a bit denser padding (protection) and the comfort is almost same for all training type gloves.

  5. Hello and thanks for sharing this post on quality boxing gloves. The world of boxing has gotten so much attention over the years that there are now so many people that are involved and what is so good is that you are providing them with the kind of gloves that can not only give them comfort but has all that other good stuff. Your post will offer much help to those who are in the market for quality boxing gloves.

    1. Hey Norman. Exactly back then the padding type was generally horse hair and some kind of basic chemical components. Now there is injected foam and there is a myriad of foam types which are used for padding. And in many cases, these provide better experiences and also provide gloves to have better prices.

I also update the writings including this writing with the reviews of new boxing gloves and remove the reviews of old ones.

  6. A few months I back I purchased a heavy bag for my garage. Soon after I realized I should probably need gloves I became somewhat of a fan of boxing gloves. The ones I ended up buying where some mma style gloves. These seem pretty solid as well. Thanks for writing this piece.

    1. There are only a few MMA gloves which I can recommend for heavy bag sessions. Other than these, stick to boxing gloves as you will less likely to get injured. You can check out Heritage if you are thinking of buying RDX pair as it is the most suitable one if you will only pound the heavy bag.

  7. I love the RDX Boxing Gloves Ego (Maya Hide Leather). The colour scheme makes me look like a superhero while equipping it. They are comfortable in my hands and it does not cost me much. Amazon’s shipping is expensive to send it to my country but I could not find the same boxing gloves in my nearby stores either. I will order again when it gets worn out.

    1. In my opinion, thanks to the good price of Maya Hide many countries buy this and sell to people. So many people can afford them and this is a safe strategy which I see in many countries. With that being said, if you like them, you can go for it. But this pair gets worn out sooner than many other RDX boxing gloves because Maya hide is not the sturdiest material out there.
