Best Boxing Floor Mats – Which one is for you?

I have been in many boxing gyms and rings and worked as a trainer. So I needed to pay attention for floor or mats.

I realized quickly that these are quite important for training quality and health as well.

I consulted gym owners, read boxing forums and checked out many feedbacks of buyers (verified purchases) and came up with two most commonly used best boxing floor mats.

Without further ado let’s start with the review of most quality one…

IncStores – 1″ MMA Interlocking Foam Tiles Product Overview

IncStores - 1" MMA Interlocking Foam Tiles ReviewTraining Quality (absorbing shock, not sliding): 10.0 / 10.0

Durability: 10.0 / 10.0

Quality / Price Rating: 9.8 / 10.0

Thickness: 1″

Best Place to buy: Amazon

Exclusive Features

  • Cell EVA foam (absorbs shock pretty well)
  • Very durable
  • Made of non-toxic and non-recycled materials
  • Design allows you to lay them everywhere
  • Resistant to water and mold
  • The most quality floor mats for boxing
  • 1 year warranty
  • Extremely popular
  • Shipment comes the same day or the next day

First of all foam absorbs the shock incredibly well and these mats won’t fray anytime soon. After interlocking thanks to its material quality these tiles simply stay stable during your session.

And it is actually a very legit problem for many tiles. You can even hurt yourself during training.

I know that many people will use these mats while training with heavy bag. And that heavy bag might just be filled with water. Of course it can leak or while you drinking water you can spill it on mats. And that is more than understandable. Recently my brother accidentally poured coke on laptop. That really sucks and we can’t use it anymore. However with these Incstores Mats this won’t be an issue for you 😉

It has detachable edge pieces.

So why is this important? Thanks to them you can lay them everywhere including corners.

It is even mold resistant. So when you use these for a very long time, it also won’t have any mold as well and you can’t find this feature in many mats.

Many people (verified purchases, people on forums…) use these Incstores Mats for their boxing, MMA, Muay Thai routine and give amazing feedback. You seriously can’t go wrong with them

Also after you buy these mats if anything happens to them, you can just change them during the first year. Based on my own experiences and researches; any other company, which produces mats, does not give any warranty whatsoever.

Price: When you consider all of these qualities (durability, suitability, water and mold resistant) its price is very good. And Incstores Mats are even cheaper than many low-quality mats.

Let’s continue with an alternative…

ProSource Puzzle Exercise Mat Product Overview

  • Made of non-toxic materials
  • Very durable
  • Very suitable for boxing and martial arts

If you don’t have any opportunity to get the first one on this list then ProSource is your best option. It is sturdy and these mats are also made of EVA foam which absorbs shock pretty well.

It is also resistant to water and you can drink water without any worries 😉

These mats have many color selections including shades of blue, red and yellow. I am absolutely sure that you can find a color which fits your training room. These mats are widely used by people who do boxing and MMA training as well.

Note:  You should consider that the thickness of this mat is 0.75″ and it is thinner than the first one.

Keep in mind that you should not use ProSource Puzzle Exercise Mats on carpets. It is written on the product description. I actually searched a lot about it however I could not find any “decent” explanation for this. So just don’t use these mats on carpets 🙂

Price: It is one of the cheapest mats on the market and it also has decent quality. Check out the price on amazon.

Can you train on regular floors?

Short answer is no, you definitely should not. If you do boxing, MMA or any martial art workouts on concrete, these can hurt your joints and your foot will be sore after your training.

Soft floors can also hurt your joints. So it is really important that you do boxing or any sport on suitable floors.

Why features of the mats are important for you?

If mats are not water resistant, its material can go bad in no time. So durability of them can lower significantly.

The design and sole of mats should make them stay stable otherwise you can’t even have a chance to get a decent workout let alone a good session.

The good quality foam also doesn’t hurt your joints at all and absorbs the shock well.

With that these mats are made of non-toxic and non-recycled materials. Why this is important? These can jeopardize your health. And a lot of companies produce mats with hazardous materials so these companies can produce them cheaper. Even though some companies do that, the price difference between “healthy” and “not healthy mats” is around $5-6. So it is not even that much.

In my opinion these features are simply musts and when you get floor mats for boxing you should make sure that the mats have these.

Conclusive Thoughts

There are many low quality mats which can slide and are not durable at all. And these have bad reviews all over the internet. With that these two mats on this list get amazing ratings, reviews from many places and have very good reputation. However IncStores Mats are waterproof, mold resistant and these are more durable, thicker and sturdier than the other one. I also have seen more than 50 verified purchase reviews of IncStores Mats and these are all good. So I highly suggest you to get IncStores on amazon

  1. Looking for some mats for general use in a Gym so they need to be suitable for lots of different classes not just boxing. Any ideas or are these suitable?

  2. I visited a gym where I recognised the IncStores interlocking tiles and I don’t know why, even those were shifting when exercising on them 🙁 Maybe they installed them incorrectly. The shift was not huge, but the tiles shifted like 2-5 cm.

Would you recommend me some heavy mat for kung fu exercises so when having a tougher exercise, it wouldn’t slide?

    Thanks in advance!

    1. IncStores is used in many different gyms. It is probably that they did not place them right and if a couple of tiles are not placed correctly this can happen. As for your question, I never had any experiences with Kung Fu. But I just checked this mat’s product description (IncStotes) and it is usable but I did not practice Kung Fu on it so you may need to do some more research.
