Hypnotik Gi Review – The Ultimate Guide

Hypnotik produces gis for competition, training, youth, and women as well. Other than gis you can find spats, fight shorts, boxing gloves, MMA mats and more martial arts equipment in the product catalog. But honestly, this company’s gis are way more popular and considering my own experiences, this company focuses on gis just more.

As a side note, I checked out the team of Hypnotik and I need to tell that I am quite impressed since this team includes Gracie National Champion, UFC veterans, ADCC Champion…

It also has really successful designers and there is no wonder that Hypnotik has a place in BJJ gi market with really good quality kimonos.

In this Hypnotik gi review, you can find all about the quality and popular gis of Hypnotik and there are actually some really interesting facts about these gis and below you can also find them.

Hypnotik Vortex IBJJF Lightweight Review

Exclusive Features

  • 425 high-tech weave
  • Light pants
  • Triple stitching
  • Rubber collar
  • Popular
  • Comes with free jiu-jitsu belt!

Hypnotik Vortex is made of Hi-Tech Weave and even though the company did not provide a description for weave type (gold, pearl etc.) many people say that it is reinforced single weave. In addition to that, it has triple stitching and it outlasts single weave jackets yet it is light as single weave matches. It is just a bit heavier due to the stitching however as you can guess, it is negligible. The pants are 10 oz. and it is also light so basically it is considerably lighter than many gis on the market.

The sides of this gi are a bit tighter than normal and other than that, this gi has a simple design which works.

The pants have a regular rope drawstring and you can fasten it quite easily. The knee parts have padding for you to roll more comfortably and you can avoid some of the bruises.

Rubber collar is thick and even though it is a bit “heavier”, it is harder to grab. With that, considering my and a myriad of people’s experiences, it is the best about wicking sweat.

In my opinion, Hypnotik Vortex also has an amazing price tag and this gi gives you way more than your money’s worth. On the top of that, you also get a free BJJ belt!

If these are appealing to you, check out the price of this fairly popular Hypnotik Gi.

Hypnotik ProMAX 550 Competition BJJ GI Review

Hypnotik ProMAX 550 Competition BJJ Gi ReviewTraining Quality (weight + freedom): 9.9 / 10.0

Durability: 9.5 / 10.0

Comfort: 9.4 / 10.0

Quality / Price Rating: 8.8 / 10.0

Exclusive Features

  • 550 pearl weave
  • Very tapered design
  • Gives less fabric to grab
  • Very sturdy
  • IBJJF approved
  • Really solid stitching

This IBJJF approved gi is made of 550 gsm pearl weave and considering the gi above, this one has a more tapered cut which can be useful during a match.

The slits are mid-height and the pearl weave gi is quite sturdy and contrast stitching makes it even sturdier. So the stretching, tear, and wear don’t cause a lot of deformation. With the contrast stitching and 550 gsm pearl weave, this gi is simply one of the top gis about durability.

It comes pre-shrunk and it has a decent fitting feedback on BJJ forums.

Cotton is good for providing comfort and I also wore Hypnotik Gi, which has CoolMax liner, and according to my experience (check out Facebook fan page), it is decent and it gets rid of moist and sweat at an average rate.

So, shortly comfort gets from me.

This gi is IBJJF approved and there is a reason why the company named this gi as “Competition”. Hypnotik ProMAX’s design is quite tapered and it is better suited for intermediate and more advanced grapplers.

Also, I found a cool video which shows the craftsmanship and details of Hypnotik ProMAX and you can find it below.

Hypnotik ZenRoll Hemp Jiu Jitsu Gi

Hypnotik ZenRoll Hemp Jiu Jitsu Gi ReviewTraining Quality (weight + freedom): 9.7 / 10.0

Durability: 9.8 / 10.0

Comfort: 9.8 / 10.0

Quality / Price Rating: 9.0 / 10.0

Exclusive Features

  • 550 gsm, hemp
  • Hemp pants
  • A good range of motion
  • Really sturdy
  • Really comfy
  • Control the shrinking

Cons

  • Will cost you initially more

The design is classic and fits really well and Hypnotik ZenRoll accommodates for most body types including long-legged and athletic.

The pants are 11 oz. and it is slightly lighter than regular BJJ pants.

As you may know, hemp provides really good airflow and the foam collar is also soft, bigger than usual and it is harder to grab. This gi basically improves your training performance and gives you an advantage on mats.

As you can expect from all jiu-jitsu kimonos, which are made of hemp, it is expensive however hemp tends to last a lot longer than cotton so considering that, this gi will cost you only initially more. So if you liked Hypnotik ZenRoll Hemp, I highly recommend you to check out the latest price and see whether it is suitable for your budget or not.

Why Should You Consider Hypnotik Gis?

I mentioned a team above and this team has really successful members and I am sure that you know some of the members. Some of the names are Rey De Leon, Caio Cesar Oliveira. This team basically has many successful jiu-jitsu practitioners and they test these gis. As a result, no one complains about training quality or anything related to grappling performance. Thanks to that, we constantly keep seeing these gis (IBJJF approved ones) in jiu-jitsu tournaments. A good example is Los Angeles International Open for that. Even though the materials are not exactly the most commonly used ones, these also tend to get good feedback for comfort from many people who have different body types (lanky, average, and long-legged). So whether you want to get a new gi or just begin rolling on mats, you should consider Hypnotik Gis.

With that, if you think of doing regular training on mats, I highly suggest you pick up your own Hypnotik Vortex for long BJJ sessions. Not only it provides great training performance, it is also sturdy with solid stitching and in addition to that, you don’t need to break the bank for this gi.

I hope that this article is informative for you and if you have any questions regarding any of these Hypnotik Gi Reviews, just leave a comment below and I will get back to you as soon as I can.

  1. Hypnotik sounds a great company but I am not sure about which gi is the best for me.

I think to go with your recommendation, Hypnotik Vortex but I also consider ProMAX 550 after watching the video. If the price is not a problem, which one do you prefer?

    1. The prices are not different and if you are a more experienced practitioner and plan on competing you can go with ProMAX 500. However, if you will roll on mats a lot, Vortex is a better option.

  2. This was quite a thorough review. I have been looking at Hypnotik gis for sometime now and been quite conflicted. It is good to hear that these are approved by the IBBJF as I plan to compete.

I do have a question though. For the hemp gi, is it illegal anywhere because it is made out of hemp? I live in California. It would be a shame to order it and find out I cannot use it because of what it is made of. I look forward to hearing your answer.

Thank you for sharing and I hope you make it a great day!

    1. Man, Hypnotik Gis are just great for more experienced practitioners like you. Just check out whether a gi IBJJF approved or not and then you are good to go. Man, as you may know, I live in Thailand for a really long time and I really don’t know the regulations of tournaments about hemp. You need to check out your tournaments regulations. Alex, just send me a detailed e-mail and I will check it out for you.

  3. Do you feel Hypnotik offer good value for money against other manufacturers as I currently use Tatami but it is getting rather worn out now and I may be looking at replacing soon and Hypnotik looks like it may be one of the brands I go for. Thanks for the great reviews by the way.

    1. Well, Tatami Nova is quite good and only Hypnotik Vortex’s quality-price ratio is better than Tatami. I also like Hynotik and many of them are quite light. I think you might like Hypnotik Vortex. As a side note, there is a similarity between Tatami Nova and Hynotik Vortex. Both have quite similar shoulder compartment desigsn.
